Subject: A summer morning on Mt. Pinos, California.
The Mt. Pinos parking lot has long been a favorite site for Southern California astrophotographers and observers. Sometimes called the "mecca" of astrophotography, the site is located between Los Angeles and Bakersfield at an elevation of 8500 feet and usually provides excellent conditions for astrophotography.
However, the real summit of Mt. Pinos is 8831 feet in elevation and is located roughly 1.8 miles west of the famous parking lot via a very rough dirt road. From its summit a view of over 100 miles becomes visible which encompasses most of Southern California.
