Subject: Ancient dry lake found in the southern region of the Anza-Borrego desert.

Location: Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California

Comments: Although now covered by hearty grasses, thousands of years ago this dry lakebed was once filled with water. During this time the climate found in the southwestern United States was much wetter than today. Temperatures found here can exceed 110F during the summer months, while winter nights can bring sub-freezing conditions.
