Location: Palen-McCoy Wilderness near Desert Center, California
Date: 01/05/02
Comments: Found near the small hamlet of Desert Center between Indio and Blythe, California, the Palen-McCoy
Wilderness is located within the hottest and driest regions of North America, the Colorado Desert. This area also contains
some of the last truly dark skies left in Southern California. While several small domes of light pollution can be seen from
the towns of Indio/Palm Springs, Blythe and El Centro, none reach over around 8deg above the horizon. The LVM is between 6.8 and 7.0.
